📸 Headshot photos

Headshot photos are required with nominations for the following young person categories: Young Achiever of the Year; Young Campaigner of the Year; Young Leader of the Year; Young Volunteer of the Year and Young Worker of the Year.

The photo will be used online during the public vote should your nominee be selected as a finalist. We will use a still from their finalist interview for the printed brochure and on our website after the event.

To achieve a good headshot, please follow the below steps:

• Landscape orientation
• Plain background
• Head and shoulders only
• Use a good camera or portrait mode on a phone
• No branded clothes (unless YMCA branding)
• Good lighting. Ideally natural lighting. Try standing in front of a window in daylight. If you need to use artificial lighting, try placing lamps behind the camera to reduce shadows.
• Look directly at the camera
• Smile!
