A step-by-step guide on preparing your nominations, with the criteria for each award:
Nominations are judged by a panel of industry leaders, sector partners and young people representing the diverse range of voices in the communities we serve.
The judging panel for 2026 will be announced later in the year.
Once nominations close on Monday 6 July, judges have two weeks to score each nomination based on:
The four highest-scoring entries are selected as finalists and move on to the next stage: the public vote, opening Monday 10 August.
Finalists will be publically announced on Monday 10 August. If you or your nominee is shortlisted:
You will be invited to attend Youth Matters Awards night
Complimentary tickets (1 finalist + 1 guest) are only offered to finalists of the Young Person categories (Achiever, Campaigner, Leader, Volunteer, Worker and Lewis Sewell Memorial Award). Finalists for Best Projects, Red Triangle and YMCA of the Year must have their ticket costs covered by their YMCA.
You may be asked for additional photos if the quality of the photos supporting your nomination are low
